FIFA – Coca Cola ranking: Senegal ended 2017 as Africa’s best side

The FIFA World Ranking is a ranking system for men’s national teams in association football, currently led by Germany.[1] The teams of the member nations of FIFA, football’s world governing body, are ranked based on their game results with the most successful teams being ranked highest.

The rankings were introduced in December 1992, and eight teams (Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain) have held the top position, of which Brazil have spent longest ranked firs

Senegal ended 2017 as Africa’s best side according to the recent FIFA – Coca Cola ranking. The Teranga Lions, however, ranked 23rd on the global ladder.

Tunisia (World ranking / WR = 27), Egypt (31), the Democratic Republic of Congo (39) and Morocco (40) respectively completed the top five African countries.

Burkina Faso (44), Cameroon (45), Ghana (50) and Nigeria (51) in that order. Completing the top 10 for Africa was Algeria (58).
